Take the HS off and clean the metal out. Remove and clean the compound off of the HSF and the CPU. Than with an ear swab use a tiny bit of Isaprol (sp?) alcohol to clean it. Apply a little bigger than a pea sized amount of compound and be just let the HSF unit to rest itself. Clean your GPU heatsink as well.
