Default Gateway Flat Panel Dark

I have an older (2002-2003) Gateway computer and 1530 FP monitor. Yesterday my wife rebooted the PC and the screen stayed dark after the reboot. It flashed on, then went off. Sure enough, I got the same result when I got home. You can press the power button off and when you turn it back on, the monitor comes back on for a second. If you look real hard from the right angle, you can see stuff on the monitor.

I tried disconnecting it from the computer and powering it off and on - same result. I tried leaqving it powered on and unplugging it from the computer - when I plugged it back into the computer it flashed on for a second. I left it unplugged from the power overnight, same thing this morning. Any ideas?

I presume the monitor is connected all ok?

You may also want to check to make sure the graphics card is seated correctly as well as just checking the monitor brightness/contrast settings to make sure they're not turned down...dounds silly but sometimes it's just the settings that have been changed.
