Knoppix is a Linux Live CD. You download the CD image file, usualy an ISO file, and burn it to a CD using any image burning program, like Nero or anything else you have. To run Knoppix you just pop it in the CD drive and boot off of that, rather than into windows. The idea is that everything is on the CD including most drivers for your system. The point of this is to see if you still have the same problems in the Linux Live as you do in windows. If you dont have the same problems then you know its not the hardware, but maybe the drivers or windows.
