A Freezing Problem

My mouse/keyboard both freeze up on my computer. It is relatively new only 2.5 years old. Once they freeze up my computer acts like it is loading, the flashing light on most computers is constantly going. However nothing is happening.

I thought it was a virus but after reformatting that isnt possible. It will do it at odd times though, could be when I start up or 2 hours after turning it on.

What could be the problem?

What keyboard mouse combo are we discussing?

Have you tried a different kb mouse combo to see if the problem persists with another set?

Are you using M$ default drivers or the drivers for the specific kb mouse?

I guess I didnt explain it well enough, it isnt just the mouse and keyboard freezing it is programs as well. Everything literally freezes. Then nothing works until I restart my computer.

Is this possible from overheating? I took of my sideboard and I havent had a problem all day.
