Default Format 2.5'' hard drives

I have a couple of Laptop 2.5'' , 20 , 30 and 40 gig hard drives , I would like to format these , but i dont want to mess about removing my hard drive from my laptop and puting these in one at a time , Is there a way to let my desktop do the work instead of my laptop to format these , ie some sort of USB conection ! .

yes. I assume they are ide due to the small size.

something like this would be your cheapest. - KINAMAX ADP-IDE23 Laptop 2.5" to Desktop 3.5" IDE Hard Drive Adapter Converter - Adapters & Gender Changers to connect it directly to your motherboard.

You can buy usb adapters as well.
here is a page of different options. - 2.5 3.5 adapter

If it is sata then the connection is the same as a 3.5.
