Default Floppy Drive problem?

I have a HP 775e that is about two years old. About six months ago my floppy drive started making a noise. Here is the description on what happens.
1. No noise at start-up. No noise when using the CD-Drive(f), no noise when using the DVD drive.

2. When I insert a floppy into the drive I get "no noise" or when using it to view a floppy disk or format a floppy.

3. However, when I remove the floppy disk and click on Microsoft Internet Explorer, there is this grinding noise. The noise may last as long as fifteen seconds or less. Also when I shut-down the PC after using a floppy.

4. This is very annoying, but it causes no other problems to any other functions of the PC.

I have none full recovery, full restore a number of times, but it still does the noise when having used a floppy disk.

Is there a chance I may need a new floppy drive? If so, would my PC (HP) require a certain drive, or just any type?

I would just recomend just getting a new floppy. Since they are pretty much obsolete they will be very cheap. You can buy from $15 to $25 now. And your computer is not THAT old so it should be able to take the floppy if you buy a new one as long as windows still boots LOL.
