First time processor install and I need help.

I have a quick question. I just got an amd 64 bit 939 scoket 3200 processor. It was the reatail version it comes with the chip and the fan. Now do I also have to buy some type of thermal compound before I connect it like artic silver 5 or something. Somone told me that there is some type of sticky patch already there on the fan is this true?

yeah the stock fan will have what is called a thermal pad on it. if you have no lans to oc it will be acceptable. no artic silver required.
