I'm having an issue with my external drive which is firewire 800. I can connect to it and transfer files back and forth fine through Mac, but not Windows. What happens is it connects, I can browse the files and folders and everything, but when I try to pull something off it goes for about 10 seconds, and then freezes and eventually says that the destination isn't there and I can't access the drive, and the only way to access the drive is to do a restart.
I've tried using the legacy drivers, using unibrain windows drivers and then going back to the original plug and play drivers and none of it works. It's worked fine in the past and I haven't done any major updates or anything since then. Only thing being updating boot camp from 3.0 to the latest version.
The same scenario happened with another drive I had that's verified working as well, and in addition to not being able to pull files off, if I tried to format it, it would disconnect. Both were NTFS formatted.
