File ntfs.sys is corrupted? - Techist - Tech Forum

Default File ntfs.sys is corrupted?

Im getting this error when i try and format the hdd.

Ive tried two xp discs, 2 hard drives, 2 cd drives, ive killdisked, i not sire what elsei can try.


Im just about out of ideas of how to fix it.
Any input is appreciated that might help me fix this.

Boot to the recovery console in XP and run a checkdisk. Once complete, try to format and see if that solves your issue.

how do i boot to the recovery console in xp if the hard drive is wiped?

Is it booted off the xp disc?

Boot off the XP disc and choose the recovery console. The command is "chkdsk /r" it might be /f. I cant remember.
