Extra mouse functions not working in game

I recently got a Logitech LX7 mouse. I use to have a generic microsoft one. Anyways, the back and forward buttons work while browsing the web but not in game. With my old mouse I could bind in game functions to them but with the new one I can not. Any idea why this might be or what I can do?

Have you installed the logitech software that came with the mouse?

Yup, and I've gone through all the settings. The only thing I've found in there is a setting to bind a key to a mouse button but that would affect everything not just the game.
