External Monitor Native Resolution Issue

So I just purchased and connected a 23" Samsung LED monitor to my HP laptop. The screen shows up crystal clear, but due to the native 1920x1080 resolution on the monitor and the 1600x900 native resolution of the laptop, the monitor does not display the entire screen, leaving out fractions of the top, bottom, and sides. I can correct this by switching the resolution of the monitor to 1600x900, but the display becomes blurry and just plain bad. Surely there is a way I can use my new monitor to see the whole screen! Help!

Did you look at any settings on your new LCD? Should have a button on it for settings, try that.

It did come with a piece of software that I have fiddled with to no success.

The physical monitor, it should have a settings button on it to change certain things.
