External HDD won't detect after sleep

I've noticed lately that when I wake my tower up from sleep, my external drive won't detect. I'll get the default ding that Windows gives when a devise connects, but when I go look for it in 'my computer' it's just not there. I even tried typing the path manually in the command prompt... it is not there, even though the light is on and it is plugged in

Usually I have to unplug it plug it back in, then it'll detect and and show up. After I do that, it detects and there are no issues with it. It is brand new, I just bought it a few months ago for my media. I shouldn't have unplug it and replug it in to make it work though. It should be there when I wake my tower up.

Any idea why it may be doing this? It only does it after sleep. If I power up after my tower has been off, it detects automatically and I don't have this issue. It's almost like it looses it while it's asleep.

I dunno, man. It sounds like a Power Management thing, but external HDDs don't have that option.
