Exclamation External Harddrive Issue

Recently my friend's 75 GB external harddrive sort of broke. The harddrive was separated into two drives, K and I. The problem happened when his computer restarted itself. He then checked the harddrive when the computer loaded up and it turns out that 1/3 of the content on K drive was missing while the data on I was unaffected. Also there's one folder in K where it says "K:\Camera Kodak is not accessible. The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable." if he tries to open it. (that folder has many subfolders in it) Please help! Thanks!

you try to recover the files using Recuva from this site,
Download Recuva Free
then try to format the external hdd.
