My brother has a Seagate FreeAgent drive and he went on a plane with it in his carry-on but they forced him to check his baggage, needless to say it is now broken (thanks TSA)

When it is plugged into the wall it doesn't turn on anymore, and when plugging in the mini-USB cable I noticed that the plug/socket was very wiggly and it could be moved deep inside the casing. I am not sure of the extent of the damage - if it is fixable, if the hard drive is unsalvageable, or what. Should I open it up and try to see if I should just transplant the drive into a new external enclosure, or do I need to RMA it to Seagate? What can I do about backing up the data?

No matter what happens those TSA tardbrains are getting a mouthful and beatdown
