I currently have a Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Pro external hard drive that has gone bad on me. I have had this guy for about three and a half years and now I believe that the head/actuator have stopped working properly. The reason I say this is because when I plug in the hard drive to any PC the power led turns on but the hard drive is not being recognized at all. I have tried various cables and other PC's but none seem to recognize it. So I was just curious if there was anyway for me to pry it open and possibly assess and fix the problem(s). I believe this is the model number for the hard drive I have but not too sure. Model: STAD500100

Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated :)

You could take it out of the external enclosure and try to hook the drive directly up to a computer internally and see if it's recognized at all. Sometimes it's just the enclosure that goes bad.
