Default everytime laptop connects, net goes out.

Everytime one of the laptops in my house connects to the internet, the net will go down for a short time, like 30 sec or so. but that is more than enough time to get booted from a game.

It only does this when the certain laptop connects. tried wired and wireless, same problem. my laptop connects fine with no trouble.

is it your router losing the internet or your modem? do you have automatic IP addressing?

If he can connect another laptop w/o issue i would assume he does have his router acting like a DHCP server.

Like Captain said, it does sound like an IP issue though. Perhaps the laptop in question isn't automatically getting its IP, and has one already assigned in the IP configuration, so when it connects it boots any other computer with that IP off the net (probably yours).

exactly my thoughts there lex, if it's automatic...i would first try setting a static IP address to see if is a DHCP server issue
