everytime laptop connects desktop loses internet

Everytime I get on my laptop my desktop will lose connection. The laptop takes a few minutes to connect and once it connects everything is fine. It goes out once every hour or so and does this routinely. Someone told me it has to do with stacked winsock but didnt elaborate what exactly that is.

my laptop is windows 7 and my desktop has vista, if thats relevant.

I've had this issue before with 2 wireless pc's, one vista one win7 and also with the same pc's but the win7 running OSX and I couldn't figure anything out. I got a new router and it fixed the issue though. The old router was a WRT-110 N router.

Oh yeah, I have a linksys router, not sure of the model. I've never had a problem with it until a recent move. I have new modem and internet.
