Ethernet Port

I have a question if I may I restored my Gateway FX-6800 desktop recently and once I was done I tried to get it back online to no avail I updated all the drivers that I could but when I try to get on to the internet my ethernet port is not detected by my PC at all no matter what I try the ethernet icon has a yellow question mark next to it, Ive tried to update that driver , roll it back , uninstall it etc.. ive tried restarting the PC and it says found new hardware but then it fails to fix it. I was told by my friend it can be a BIOS problem if anyone has any knowledge at all on how I can resolve this problem it would be greatly appreciated thank you very much.

Thank You Mindovermaster I will try that to see if that works. I still have the same OS as well.
