When I shut down my computer for some reason the ethernet light on my motherboard stays on next to the jack. When I flip the switch on my PSU it turns off after a few seconds, and when I filp it back on it stays off. Is this a problem? And if so, is it a problem with the PSU?

Thanks,
~Greg

Is the RJ-45 cable in the socket when the light is on? Because if so it usually stays on if something is plugged in..

Re:

Hello,

Your motherboard may still be supplying power to your ethernet adaptor because your BIOS might be set to enable boot from ethernet (network).

I'd check your BIOS settings.

Okay, thanks. Next time I start my computer I will check the BIOS and report back. As long as it doesn't hurt anything I am fine with it.

Ah, you are right. I went into the BIOS and 'wake on lan' was enabled. I guess I have never noticed on other computers since most of ours have wireless.

Thanks all,
~Greg
