Well about 2 weeks ago I made a post here on this forum about not being able to connect to the internet. It turned out that my ethernet cable had just died, or as another member put it "the pins burned out".

So the next day i bought a new ethernet cable ( and I'm talking about what happened roughly 2 weeks ago) now today randomly while I was on msn I get disconnected from the internet. I go ask my dad to see if his computer still has internet, and he does.

I boot over to ubuntu to see if its a software problem, but the same results.

Now this is the second time this happens. I'm curious as to how this happens?

The only imaginable thing I can think of is bandwidth overflow which burned the pins...

Any other ideas?

Are you able to try another network card? Or try the cable on another computer to make sure the cable did indeed go bad, and not the actual port that's acting iffy?

Yeah I just tried the cable on my laptop; works fine. My dad suggested it was a malfunction on my motherboard since my NIC is built in with my mobo.
