DVD Durner wont read game discs

OK, i got a nu LG DL dvdburner, replaced my crappy old acer 52X drive put it in the same spot, used the old ribbon cable made the dvd burner master & cd burner slave, it didnt like reading my Jedi Academy cd (it did the autoplay & refused to load the game, so i put it it the other drive & it worked.

A similar thing happened with my old cd drive, should i change it for the new IDE ribbon or does anyone have a reason why this does it?

sometimes drives seem to refuse particular discs who knows why. a new cable couldn't hurt but have you tried restarting and using the disc again? swap the master and slave around or try it without the slave
