DVD drive wont recognize any blank dvds

Hey everyone well my comps like 2 years old and i have been able to burn dvds and put movies on dvds. But now all of a sudden my comp will not recognize any blank dvd's. I try to use sonic dvd maker to add a video i made to a dvd, but sonic says please insert recordable media. I am using philips DVD+-RW DVD8631. Please help me quick!!! thanx guys

are you using DVD-R or RW ?? and is it a cheap brand ??
