Default do in need to keep re-installing xp?

It seems that I re-install windows xp every 3 weeks this does not seem right to me, i play internet games i have everything installed firewall, anti virus etc, but still no luck, sometime my pc makes different noises, the specs are below thanks Lawrie

Pentium 4 Processor (HT)
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition (SP2)
Panasonic DVD-RW +_
Media Card reader/writer
Nvidia Ge-Force 6200SE (Turbo Cache)
260 GB Hard Disk
3.39 GHz
1.00 Gb ram
External Floppy Disk, Epson C46, Agfa Scanwise, Fuji A607, Fuji S5500, Packard Bell Sub-Woofers, Trainz and all the best games.
BT Yahoo 8Mb Broadband Service (Eight)

sometimes a bad power supply can lead to file corruption and crashing. it happend on my Pentium 3 system before I got a new PSU

Check the connections.
Try adding power.
Reformat then Reinstall....

If symptoms persist, consult the dealer...

sometimes a PSU doesn't even need 2 months to go bad
