Do i need a new IDE or new hard drive or both?

A new hard drive won't have anything on it, so you'll probably need to get an XP disk w/key
If you have an oem pc then there may be a coa sticker (XP Key) on it that you can use with an oem disk.
What are the specs for this pc?

sempron 3400 4gb ddr2 160gb hard drive and it has windows xp. I have a copy of windows 7 could i put that onto a new hard drive

If there is a maker and model number anywhere on the case, it should cost $30 or less for a reinstall disc. It cost me about $25 for an XP computer and that was with one day shipping.

There isnt i only know that because she told me it must have just been on the papers she had but i dont have them. At the very least im gonna get a new IDE cable because i was told it needed that.
