Did I screw myself? Pulled power plug, now cpu spikes for no reason.

I accidentally pulled the plug for my surge protector. Then when I rebooted I got random spikes in all 8 cores of my i2600k. Eventually my usbs stop working and in turn my kb and mouse stop working.

restoring to an earlier point.
reseating ram.

about to try resetting cmos

The 2600K only has 4 core.

What do you mean by a spike, or a random spike?

Likely as the i7-2600k appears as 8 cores in utilities like task manager due to Hyper-Threading.

Do you mean high random CPU utilisation? Have you tried checking the hard disk drive for errors (CHKDSK)? Also, can you see any processes in task manager which it may be attributed to?

yea I aware of hyper threading (now)lol. I keep having spikes in usage and I'm not even running any programs. I am glad to say that the My key board + mouse are working again. Reseating the ram seems to have worked, but the random spiking still concerns me.
Any other recommendations?

Go into your task manager and see which processes are using the cpu when the spikes occur. How high of a spike are you talking about, 100% or just small spikes?
