Dell Dimension E510 powering issue

Hi gang,

I am new to this forum....I read about similar probs with diffrent threads....Here is mine...

Dell power supply lights the motherboard solid green, and the front on/off switch blinks yellow or (orangish).... when i do a hard shut-down, and press the on button, it comes on for a second, then nothing....the light still blinks in front.....hmmmmm, any ideas?

I would first blame the power supply. The ones they use in Dell desktops are cheap off-brands. They just use them to save money. If you have another PSU lying around, I'd test that.

ok, so are power supplies universal???? What should I look for, I have some old ones that work around, but I thought that they had to be exact....

No, As long as it has the proper connections. A Corsair 550W and a SilverStone 500W both work on any system.
