Dell 17" monitor problems

I have a Dell 17" flatpanel lcd monitor. The problem is when I turn the monitor on, when the computer is on, the led power light and screen will blink. The screen doesnt show any of the desktop when it blinks, but a little flicker. It blinks constantly till I hit the top or anywhere around the monitor to make it work right again. It works for a quite a while unless I turn it off, then its a 50/50 chance it will start blinking when I turn it on again. The monitor is probly 3-5 years old. Does anyone know how to take these apart? Just wanting to know so I dont break anything when I try to fix it.

I've taken a Dell monitor apart before and its a pain in the bottom. You need a flathead screwdriver and you need to pry the casing open. I don't think you'd want to do that.
