Decent hardware, poor gaming performance

Got it working. This was the issue:

I had to load the bios' default settings (via the bios option, not the cmos jumper), boot it like that, then restart and apply my custom settings, as suggested by someone on the anandtech forums. FSB at 400, all voltages on auto except for the memory, working fine. My 3dmark06 score is 6824 and I'm sure I can push it more than that. Thanks for the help, all.

ah nice. wonder why the board was doing that... that is pretty odd.

6824? nice! what is the c2d clocked at for that? it appears I have some benching to do... cant let a 7800GTX beat me
