First, yes i know, i should get a LCD but i prefer the 0 latency of a crt for gaming. Anyway, my crt did some weird stuff, if began to get darker and darker, last night it went black (hard to boot up with a black screen.) I noticed before this that sometimes when i rebooted my system the active signal light (that shows the crt is getting a signal) wouldn't turn green. About two months later the dark problem started. I've checked the video card and it's all good. At this point my wife wants me off her comp and back on my own, so is this a bad crt or something i haven't thought of.

specs:

amd 64 x2 6.0ghz
asus board (i forgot the serial, it's a pro board)
seagate SATA 250GB HD
ATI 3870 1 gig mem

any help would be welcome, i really need to know what to replace. (oh i forgot the only other monitor i have is a 16" packard bell old fart from back in the 90's i've been using as decoration  )

It really sounds like it is going.

Try the 16" and see if it happens, but the darkness sounds like the guns gong.

Welcome to TF, hope you see you around.

i was afraid of that, and thanks for the welcome.
