Hi all,

I am new to this but attempting to try to recover some files from my Iomega external hard drive. I was suprised it came up with an error when I plugged it in as i hardly used it, just for backing up.

Now it has alot of files on I would like to attempt to get back. Pictures etc.

The error is cyclic crc check - drive needs formatting.

The drive still spins up ok, i can hear it. The computer can see the drive.

I tried the Recuva software but It cannot access the drive.

I have tried to type CMD chkdsk/r as I saw this may do something online but all i get is insufficient priviledge. I tried altering the user admin account but didnt make a difference.

Is there anything else I can do presonally?

How much does professional recovery cost?

Many thanks
David

Try removing the drive from its enclosure and kook it directly to the computer.

As for the chkdsk, run CMD as Admin first. shouldn't get access denied.

Also I would try booting off of a Linux LiveCD such as Ubuntuand see if you can see the drive that way.
