Crash on windows xp installation

everything starts when i replaced a broken hard disk.
i was using 80GB seagate SATA, and the new one is 160GB WD also sata.
i have a crash with blue screen, exactly at the time "Installation is starting windows", right after finishing the first step of "Windows is loading files"
i try to connect the HD on another sata port... didn't help.

Help please... what is wrong ? is there any SATA driver issue ?

i don't think there is an error code... is just plain text saying something for hardware mulfunction, and the installation stops in order to don't cause damage to the hardware, and to remove any newly installed hardware...

Note: windows vista can be installed with no problems.

I believe you can get around it if you have a sata drivers disk for the xp install. OR perhaps, setting your drive to IDE mode inside bios.
