Default Crash on boot screen

My dads pc has all of a sudden started crashing on windows startup, he hasnt installed no new softwear/programs/hardware.

We have tryed taking the ram out, useing a ram stick in each slot but seems to be doing the same thing, It wont boot up in safemode eaither


He is running a intel pentuim p4 @3Ghz with 1gb ram, and windows XP SP 3

If you would like to know anything els please reply to this thread if you know what the problem is please post a reply! he needs his pc up and running!

Try running diagnostics on your HDD, provided by the manufacturer. It sounds corrupted.

Run-on sentence on the bottom there?

Hes just tryed another HD and it gave him a BSOD

First one he got was this, but i think its where he had the HD on where there wasnt a OS installed on it

STOP: 0x0000007b (0xf7c5640, 0x0000034, 0x00000000 0x00000000)

and he just got this one with another HD STOP: 0x0000007f (0x0000000D, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

For the first one: Are you running the HDD as IDE or AHCI?

Second one: You receive a "Stop 0x0000007F" error message or your computer unexpectedly restarts
That is toward Norton. but it could be any Antivirus or program that is using up kernel drivers.

Yes his Main HD is IDE he has a quite old pc lol, and how is he going to fix this, if he cant even get on in safemode, he is useing avast as well

Now its coming up with BIOS rom checksum error

No we havent, we took his HD out of his pc and stuck it in mine, and does the same thing on my PC doing a defrag now, once that is done, how do we reset the BIOS?

Take the big watch batter on the motherboard out for a few minutes, put it back in.
