I purchased a pentium 4 2.8 HT cpu. For some reason my system, using 2 different MBs only shows it as a 1.87 ghz and my computer is acting extremely odd, any ideas?

I'm sure you need to set your BIOS to the correct CPU speed.

But since you didn't give too many details on your CPU besides it's overall clock speed I can't really help you.

It always has it's multiplier and it's base frequency...as an example

200MHz x 14 = 2.8GHz

if yours was set to 133 instead of 200 that'd result in

133MHz x 14 = 1.8GHz

not saying those are the exact numbers, but I'm just pointing out chances are it's a setting within the BIOS that needs changing

well you were correct, I found the option in the bios to change the speed up and I did, but it also ups the mhz of my ram. And causes my computer to just reboot because my memory is running too hot.
