Hi,
This was my issue

Basically I could OC at any divider but the 266.

But I took my CPU out and found that I F...... something up.

This is a fried CPU?

You can see the charred pin.

My problem now is what is damaged?

Is it the CPU or is it the socket

Any ideas? I am ready to buy whatever it is I need. Or just settle with no more OC'ing (at least at the 266 divider)

Cheers

Your CPU doesnt really loook fried, just make sure theres not like a piece of dust or something in there. It seems to be a mild amount of corrosion, at least from the pic. This can happen for a number of reasons, most of them involving someone touching it prior to instillation.

Also, if that pin were fried, it would cause much bigger problems, and so it is probably unrelated to your OC-ing issue.

Solution:

1. Put it back

2. Dont use the 266 divider

It seems to be a mild amount of corrosion,

Yeah I leave my CPU outside when it rains
. lol

if that pin were fried, it would cause much bigger problems,

You know the function of that pin? what does it do? And what would the effect be if it were fried?

I wish it were only dust etc. However when I last took off the IHS etc I was so anal about keeping it clean etc I covered it in blue tape and inspected it before install.

Solution:
1. Put it back
It is back and still no 266 divider.

2. Dont use the 266 divider
No Shh, I don't have a choice.

I am getting an FX57 and see if it works in the board at the 266 divider. If not I am getting a new board.

Thanks
