My new CPU, installed today an E5200 not overclocked and running on the stock fan. After playing a bit of COD4 I opened up core temp to find it at 70 degrees. Is this because the paste which was on the heatsink needs to cure or should it not have to ?

The BIOS also says the CPU is at 50-60 degrees too. It's sitting at 62 and 61 as I type this

I have some zalman paste I could use or is it not worth it?

Cheers.

It takes some time for the paste to "burn in" from what i know.

scrape the crappy stock paste off and put some good stuff on it. also you should get some thing better than stock heatsink.

I have the zalman cnps9500 which I will see if o can fit, just takes so long to do. Thanks for replies though.

Zalman is on with some zalman paste and now it's sitting at 38 degrees celicus. It's a joke how crap the intel fans are and how little paste comes on them, seriuosly with that thing my cpu was hitting high temps under load.
