When i boot up, after my pc has been off all night. i get a message before i enter windows saying my CPU fan is either off or running to slow, i checked and it is just running, but its slow. after i boot into windows it seems to run just fine. its running at about 3000rpm. its about 4 month. should i upgrade to a after market 20$ fan? if so anyone have a good suggestion for a venice 3200+ 939.

Your sig says that your chip is running at 2.4mhz. That must be really slow for Windows XP no?

I think you mean Ghz (Gigahertz) :p

On topic, If your going to upgrade your fan, spend a little extra and look at the zalman setups on newegg.com . Search the board to see which ones we recommend.

does your motherboard support SmartFan?
SmartFan increases the rpm of the fans when it'snecessary
and vice-versa decreases the rpm when there are no cooling
needs. If your mobo supports it, deactivate it through bios.

Another thing you can check is if the power cord of the cpu fan
is connected correctly...maybe while you were making changings
to your hardware, you moved.

And the last one, you can use some free programs (like SpeedFan)
that monitoring the fans and it allows the user to change their
speed. I was using that program to keep my rpm high even
if the cooling needs of my pc wasn't high.
(in fact, i was checking how low the cpu temp could go with
no programs running and full cpu fan speed)

Anyway...good luck =D

^ OMG
Its 2.4ghz, lmao i just relised that it says mhz, haha 50 golden stars for pointing that out lol.

But yea i have cool' n quit, where it will slow my fan down when its not being used but its disabled.
