Hello everyone! Just built a new core I7 system, and the core i7 940 I have plugged in is running at 80-84 celsius/180f. It's in the red on my motherboard monitor and I get a message every time that says the CPU is running hot. Is this normal for this chip? If not, what can I do to cool it down? I have the proc fan and the side panel fan blowing on it, and 2 exhaust fans venting to the rear. I don't want to ruin my new $500 processor so any suggestions would be awesome! Thanks!

that is way hot bro/sis

what cooler are you using,
what thermal paste are you using.

be sure the cooler is properly mounted.

also enable speed step if its not (in bios?)

get back to us with the answers so we can further help you out.
