Default Core 2 duo temp question?

What is the normal operating temp of c2d? Mine is at 46C at idle. I tried artice silver 5 but it is still 46. Could I have put on too much as5?

yes 46 is a bit high for idle, my 6300 idles at about 30,, you should only use a very small amout of thermal paste,, about half the size of a pea, and spread it very thin, its only there to fill microscopic gaps in the metal

my E6600 is always between 25-28C, as for thermal paste, the heatsink came with a bit of thermal paste attached to it.
