Confusing RAM

Hi,
Two 256 MB DDR RAM are installed on my PC which was working good since the past 1 year. Suddenly, the PC is taking very long time to boot, so i removed 1 of the 256 RAM and it is working fine.I did the same with the other 256 RAM, which is also working fine. but when i connect both of them together, again it is very slow.. I tried removing both of the RAM and connected one 512 MB Ram, it is still very slow..the PC is working fine only with either of the 256 MB RAM, i am getting mad..plz help me out !!!

I could be wrong, but it might have to do something with the ram slots.

Hi, I have tried connecting the RAMs on all the slots...No problem with the slots either

try defragmenting ur hard drive and see if that helps
