Ah so I did understand you correctly. I would say the board is gone then. Check that it is set to boot from cd first when trying to load the disk, A linux live cd would be helpful to diag the pc if you have access to one. You could also make a bootable usb if it won't load from cd then you could see if the sata controler is working.
