The other day I was cleaning out my computer. Its a compaq inspiron 2500 running windows xp. So then I went to bed and turned it off. Today, I turned it on, and at the Windows XP loading bar stage, it quickly shows a blue screen with text, but it shows it too fast to let me read it. Then my computer resets and goes to a window that says:

"Sorry for the inconvenience, Windows has unsuccessfully started"

Then it talks if last time I shut it down by pressing the reset button or power out or just regular turned it off and tells me to choose either

Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Network Connections
Start windows with previous settings that worked
Start windows regularly

Whenever I choose to start windows, either regulary or with the previous settings, it resets at that blue screen, but it works in safe mode.

I know this may all be very confusing but any help is GREATLY appreciated. Did I accidentally delete something that I shouldnt have? Do I have some sort of virus? I'm not exactly a tech wiz so I have no Idea how to fix it. Thanks in advance.

Go into System Restore, located in the Control Panel, and roll-back to the previous day's restore point.
