Computer shuts off when I go to install windows...

Hey well pretty much I set my computer to boot from the CD, and when it goes through it's list of things on XP and says "to install XP press enter" I press enter and nothing happens, and then it shuts off.

ABITIP35E board, Q6600 processor, ballistix ram 2X1GB...


Just wonderin WTF to do!!

Are you sure it isnt overheating? Are you sure the RAM, CPU, heatsink are all on there right? Id all the wires on right? Do you have enough power from the PSU?

how do I check for an overheating issue? the cpu and heat sink are on tight. How do I know if I have enough power?

Use a online Power Calculator to see if you have enough power to work the stuff. Are you running a GFX card or just onboard video? What is the PSU rated at? What kind of PSU?

If you do not have any BIOS tools to check the temps you will not get anywhere. Most tools will run from within Windows.

I have an antec 550W PSU. Yes I have a 8800 GTS G92, and all the components were reccomended on this board.

oh darn it says i'm running at 97 degrees C at the CPU, wtf could be wrong I have the heat sink on tight as can be...

What about the Thermal Paste? Did you apply enough? Too much?

well it came with paste on it. I just tried re seating the heat sink. Am I the only one that things that push pin style is retarded?
