Default Computer not loading at all

My sisters Gateway mx6421 will not boot up at all. When you turn it on the Gateway logo comes up and says loading but never does. It says to hit F10 for boot menu and F2 for utilitys but when you press that it just says opening forever. Anyone have a idea of why its not working?

Try a repair install of Windows. That is, if you use Windows.

Taking out the ram in slot 2 fixed the problem.

What I found weird though was if I put the same ram in slot 1 it would get to the loading windows screen before crashing. I wonder if I could loosen the timings to make it work...

Bad ram is what i think that is. Run this program:Memtest86 - Reviews and free downloads at Download.com

if you get an error its bad.

heres a guide on how to use the program, but download the actual program from the link above download.com is a 100% free virus website.
