Here's a question maybe someone can help me. My friend has a computer that was plugged in a surge protector during a lightingstorm. Apprently there was a lightning strike nearby and the PC will not turn back on. However, the monitor still works. Was the computer fried? or is there someother reason it wont turn on.

Another question is, whatever happened, is it repairable?

Any suggestions help or whatever is appreciated.

Hello,

Have you tried plugging the computer on another power outlet that works? I would suggest changing the computer's power supply first before assuming that the motherboard is damage. Use a different power cable if you have to.

Also was this Surge protector a real one or just a strip. A good one cost's at least $35:00.

I'm not sure, he said it was a surge protector, it could have just been a strip.....
