first of all, those are called "Hard Drives".
Second, to get rid of the extra "D" drive, you have to open the computer case, find the extra hard drive, remove power and jumpers, unscrew, and reboot.
However, it might just be a partitioning problem. Do you have PartitionMagic installed on the PC?
