Comp Sluggish when reading from dvd

well as the title suggest my computers gets very sluggish when im moving files or installing (same thing ,i know) from a cd or dvd.. ive tried enableing dma but it always stays on pio mode,, so thats not gonna help,,

Also, this is a brand new build and the dvdrom works fine in another computer

Try to change the IDE cable.

done and dusted,, , wel actualy, when i use an ide cable the entire comp gets sluish to the point where music plays slows, but i tired a ide to sata convertor and the the mouse gets really unresponsive then jumps around the screen, but it doesnt matter now cuz ive to returned the motherboard, the onboard ethernet randomly dissapears
