Default Comp freezing due to hardrive error.

I get this error "The device, \Device\Scsi\viamraid1, did not respond within the timeout period." occasionally (seems to be at random) and then the computer will freeze for 20 or so seconds before going again. Sometimes computer won't start too. VIA Raid is used to back up our hard drive. It is just a a mirror hard drive i guess.

Default Re: Comp freezing due to hardrive error.

I would check the condition of the hard drives and the status of the raid array. Could be a bad drive or a failing raid controller. Also I would check the power and data cables for the hard drives to ensure they are properly seated. Depending upon the manufacturer of your hard drive you can download a testing tool. I would also get a back up of the data until you figure out what is going on.
