Default Clink Clink Clink Clink...(tick) says the HD

Recently, my dads hard drive has all of a sudden started making a sound that's something like 'clink clink clink clink' followed by a very short pause, and then a very quiet 'tick' sound as soon as it hits the desktop; the rest of the start up is fine. It repeats this sound until the computer is shut down. I'm think he's managed to start it up once since this happend. It did just kind of happen out of the blue.

So is it fried? Or is this a proplem that can possibly be fixed.

sounds like head knocking. Backup asap, 'cause its about to go bad. You could try writining 0's to the drive, that SOMETIMES works, but very rarely.

I agree. Back it up and get ready to replace it. The sooner the better.
