Default cleaning lcd screens

Both my laptop and my desktop monitors have become very dirty and the fact that they are lcds makes it even more obvious. I don't want to permanently ruin the screens from using the wrong cleaner or anything, so what is the best way to clean smugs and dust form the surface or the screen?

50/50:Water and Alcohol.
Use a lint-free towel, plain tissues work, and rub gently.
