Hello i just got a brand new alienware mm5500 laptop specs below

pentium M 2.0 Ghz
2 gigs of ram
60 gig hd 7200
nvidia geforce mxm go 6600
15.4 inch widescreen
Windows media center OS

The problem is this. All the reviews i read have told me they are able to play high ends games with almost no problems. I am having a problem where at random times my call of duty 2 or FEAR completey become choppy. They lag as if they where on 15 fps. And at other times it run at 70 fps.

I have tried tons of things to find out whats causing them to lag at those specific times.

Please help. I got this laptop last thursday and the first time i loaded it i got a physical memory dump error a few times. But that went away for some reason. Now im having this problem. I did about 15 tests where i ran the laptop booted waited 15 seconds then played the game and then i record whether or not it lagged. Ive asked alot of people about this and tehre all stumped. Any suggestion?? in the tests it lags are random times. In order to have it stop lagging i have to reboot the pc and when it boots up it once agian is a matter of weather or not its going to lag this time.

HELP last resort is reinstalling with XP prof. if that dosint solve it im returning the laptop.

Are there any events in the event viewer?

Also what stop code did you get?

Use Windows Explorer to access the C:\Windows\LogFiles\Watchdog folder.
Locate and right-click the most recently dated .WDL file.
Select the Open command from the context menu.
In the Windows dialog box, choose the Select The Program From A List option and click OK.
When you see the Open With dialog box, select Notepad and click OK.

Ok i have no idea what your talking about. There is no Log folder in the C:\windows folder also what do you mean by events in the event list??

Never mind i found watchdog in system32 folder and i opened it here is what i got that awsint in hexidecimal form.

* The watchdog detected a timeout condition. We broke into the debugger to *

* Normally the system will try to recover from this failure and return to a *
* VGA graphics mode. To disable the recovery feature edit the videoprt *
* variable VpDisableRecovery. This will allow you to debug your driver. *
* i.e. execute ed watchdog!WdDisableRecovery 1. *

* Intercepted bugcheck code and arguments are listed below this message. *
* You can use them the same way as you would in case of the actual break, *
* i.e. execute .thread Arg1 then kv to identify an offending thread. *
